Winter Park

Winter Park - Colorado, United States

Snowboard, Ski

Winter Park is a village in Grand County, Colorado. It is considered as one of the best resorts in the world. It features 1.200 hectares of skiable terrain surrounded by fabulous landscapes, excellent quality powder and dining options for all. The resort is divided into seven zones and caters for different levels. The Winter Park Territory has gentle slopes between the glades which are ideal for intermediates and the Casquez Ridge Territory is a quieter zone with red and black pistes along with very good off piste options.

The Parsenn Bowl Territory is the highest zone in Winter Park and offers magnificent panoramic views, wide pistes and fast runs. The Mary Jane Territory has world class bumps, tree runs and plenty of blues. If you are looking for more of a challenge, then the Cirque Territory is for you with its double blacks and ungroomed and patrolled off piste riding. In the Eagle Wind Territory you can enjoy tree and glade skiing with perfect powder and expert terrain that winds through the forest.

Winter Park has six terrain parks which vary in difficulty, with all kinds of pipes, jumps and jibs, along with a professional superpipe which is 400 foot long with 18 foot walls. Starter and Bouncer are beginner parks with wide and low features so it’s the best place to start if you are new to riding rails. Ash Cat is the next step with some easy boxes added to the mix, and Gangway has down-rails and other modules which are a bit more difficult. Re-Railer has medium sized rails, jumps and jib features and Rail Yard is where you’ll find the most advanced rails and features to test your skills. It’s also where you’ll find the superpipe. The Dark Territory is in the lower part of Rail Road and you have to watch a safety video and buy a special pass to use it as it contains the largest features in the park and the emphasis is on safety and etiquette.

The ski season begins in mid-November and if the conditions allow, it closes at the end of April. Like any station in North America, the ideal time to visit is in January, February and March.
