Valle Nevado

Valle Nevado - Chile - Los Andes, Chile

Snowboard, Ski

At an altitude of 3.025 metres, in one of the most spectacular environments in the Andes mountain range and 46 kilometres from Santiago, the capital of Chile, you’ll find Valle Nevado. It receives an average of eighty five percent sunny days a year and has a maximum altitude of 3.670 metres with descents from the peak Tres Puntas. The altitude of the pistes together with the location of the skiable domain on the south face of the mountain gives you the sensation of skiing in a unique environment with perfect snow, with kilometre long runs. Its orientation, the best in the southern hemisphere, makes the snow conditions optimal throughout the whole season as it never gets direct sunlight during the afternoon.

The resort is known worldwide as it has a high attendance of professional riders that come to participate in international events like the Roxy Snow Jam or the Columbia Snow Challenge. Other events like the Boarder Ski Cross, Parallel Slalom, Slope Style and the Snow Marathon are also important dates for the many fans. They also hold the South America Rookie Fest where many future promises participate.

Valle Nevado has 900 hectares, which includes 158 groomed pistes and off piste territory with some almost vertical descents. The resort is connected to the neighbouring resorts of La Parva and Portillo and has a good snowpark to defy gravity with jumps, rails, boxes and first class kickers. You can opt to the ever more popular heliski with the company which are permanently based in the centre. They have modern helicopters which can take you up to the Grand Hyratt peak at 4.200 metres so you can enjoy the descent on the virgin slopes and a 2.000 metre altitude difference.

Conditions permitting, the ski season in the Andes begins in mid June and finishes at the end of September or beginning of October. The ideal time to go off piste safely and when the skiable area is larger is between the end of July and the beginning of August.
