Las Leñas

Las Leñas

Valle de las Leñas - Mendoza - Los Andes, Argentina

Snowboard, Ski

The Las Leñas valley lies in the heart of the Andes, 1.200 kilometres from Buenos Aires in the south of Mendoza. The magic of this ski station grew from the combination of nature and off piste adventure. Las Leñas is the largest station in Argentina. Between its base at 2.240 m above sea level and its peak at 3.430 m it offers 40 kilometres of pistes with good snow quality. It’s not difficult to find yourself amongst the best pro riders as Las Leñas also offers some very demanding off piste, where just being a good rider isn’t enough, you need to be an expert.

Las Lenas Snowboard

Freeriders have 29 ideal descents along with a seven kilometre run that combines the Apolo, Neptuno and Venus pistes. But what stands out are the 17.500 skiable hectares along with many off piste options. If you don’t know the area the best option is to hire a guide but if it’s not feasible, there’s a good route with natural kickers from the Marte chairlift to the Iris chairlift. Late skiing is available on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Lovers of carving have a slalom course on the Eros II piste. The station has a 1.500 m snowpark with jumps, bumps, rails and other elements for different levels. It’s open until 15:00 and you’ll find it next to the Minerva chairlift. When there are good conditions, everything is open but when the snow is scarce, the jumps are closed, leaving just the rails and boxes.

Due to its geographic location and altitude, Las Leñas usually offers good quality snow from the end of June til mid October. August is the best time to visit to enjoy the 17.500 hectares of skiable terrain.
